How to Delete a Contact from an iPhone: 7 Steps (with Pictures)

There are many good reasons to delete a contact from a phone. Maybe you have a lot of contacts that you don't talk to anymore and want to reduce your contacts list. Maybe there's a person you want to avoid, or maybe you've found yourself looking through your contacts and asking, "Who is this person?" Whatever your reason for wanting to delete a contact, you can do it in just a minute. If you want to know how to delete a contact from an iPhone, just follow these steps.

GO TO YOUR HOME SCREEN. This is the main screen on your iPhone that allows you to accomplish a variety of tasks.

CLICK ON "CONTACTS." You can find this option on your iPhone's home screen. It will be a brown application that looks like a little notebook. This will bring you to a list of all of your contacts.

FIND THE CONTACT YOU\'D LIKE TO DELETE. Just scroll through your contacts until you find the person you want to delete. Maybe you have a specific person in mind, or maybe you just want to start cutting down on those extra contacts that you never talk to anymore.

TAP THE PERSON\'S NAME. Once you've found your contact, just tap his or her name. This will bring you to a new window that will give you some options for contacting that person.

SELECT "." You can find this button on the top right of the screen. This will take you to a new screen with more contact information for that person, if you have it.

SELECT "DELETE CONTACT." You can find this option all the way at the bottom of the screen -- it's a large red button. Once you select it, you'll be given the option to delete the contact or to cancel.

SELECT "DELETE CONTACT" AGAIN. This will remove the contact from your phone. To confirm that you've really deleted the contact from your phone, just scroll through your contacts and see that the person is no longer there.
