STEPS
1
FIND A PLASTIC CAP FROM ANY AEROSOL CAN OR SIMILAR DEVICE. 2
MAKE 2
EQUAL VERTICAL CUTS APPROXIMATELY 10MM APART (THIS DEPENDS ON HOW WIDE YOUR PHONE/CASE IS) DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAP. Cutting about halfway down seems to work well. 3
ROTATE THE CAP 180 DEGREES AND REPEAT STEP 1 ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. Try to keep all 4 cuts equidistant. 4
NOW PUSH THE 2 FLAPS YOU HAVE CREATED OUTWARDS AND DOWN AS FAR AS THEY WILL GO CREATING A PERMANENT CREASE IN THE PLASTIC. When released the flaps should return to near horizontal providing more stability for your phone. That's it! 5
IF YOU WANT THE OPTION OF BEING ABLE TO ANGLE YOUR CAMERA TO SHOOT UP OR DOWN, REPEAT THE STEPS ABOVE WITH ANGLED CUTS. About 30 degrees of vertical works well. 6
MAKE A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CAP THE SIZE OF THE MOUTH OF A PLASTIC DRINK BOTTLE. 7
YOU CAN USE THE BOTTLE TO ADD HEIGHT AND STABILITY TO YOUR TRIPOD. Remove the cap from the bottle, fill with water , push the bottle mouth thru the tripod and secure by tightening the cap back onto the bottle 8
FINISHED. TIPS
Cheaper quality plastic caps are easier to cut than more heavy duty versions.
If your phone isn't sitting perfectly horizontal, manipulate the flaps until it does
By making a hole in the bottom of the cap the size of the mouth of a plastic drink bottle you can use the bottle to add height and stability to your tripod. Remove the cap from the bottle, fill with water , push the bottle mouth thru the tripod and secure by tightening the cap back onto the bottle
