STEPS

FIRST ACCESS YOUR APP STORE WITH YOUR MOBILE DEVICE. If you use an iPhone, access your Apple App store from your menu screen. If you use any Android mobile device, access your app store through the Android Market or the new Google Play store on your menu screen.

IN EITHER APP STORE, SEARCH INSTAGRAM AND AGREE TO DOWNLOAD. It is a free app.

ONCE THE APP IS SUCCESSFULLY DOWNLOADED, OPEN IT AND BEGIN FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS TO CREATE A USER ID AND PASSWORD.

YOU NOW HAVE INSTAGRAM! On the bottom of the screen you will see various icons. They begin with an icon of a house, then a star, a camera, a love quote bubble, and a page icon.

TO GET STARTED, YOU MAY WANT TO SEARCH FOR FRIENDS AND OTHERS WITH WHOM YOU WILL SHARE YOUR PICTURES. In order to find friends, click the page icon. In the top right corner, click the magnifying glass and type the name of the specific Instagram ID of the person you are searching. It helps to ask them first, since the more specific your search is, the easier it will be to find their account.

WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, YOU MAY CLICK "FOLLOW," WHICH IS TO THE RIGHT OF THE PROFILE. You may also click their username to see their profile and then click the "follow" button. Some users choose to have their accounts private, therefore you will become their friend if they choose to accept you.

YOU WILL ACQUIRE INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS WHEN PEOPLE SEARCH YOU AND CHOOSE TO FOLLOW, SO SPREAD THE WORD! It helps to advertise your new account on other social networks that you may have like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or YouTube.

NOW, UPLOAD PHOTOS! Click on the camera icon on the bottom of the screen. Immediately you will be able to take a photo by hitting the camera symbol there. If you would like to upload a picture that is already saved to your phone, click the picture icon to the right of the camera button in the camera view. Then, you can choose whatever photo you want to upload.

AFTER CHOOSING A PHOTO OR TAKING A PHOTO, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE DIRECTED THE WONDERFUL PHOTO FILTERS TO ENHANCE YOUR PHOTOS. Scroll through them and select them subsequently to see which filter is best for your photo. If you decide you don't want a filter, click "Normal" and all filters will be removed. I personally love the "Walden" filter and the "Amaro" filter but it will depend on the photo.

WHEN YOU ARE READY TO SAVE THE PHOTO, CLICK THE DOUBLE RIGHT POINTING ARROWS IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF SCREEN. It will take you to a "Details page." Here, you may write a caption, enable "Geotag", which allows your followers to know where you are when uploading the photo, and connect to any of your social networks the app has listed. To simply upload, click the green "Upload" button in the top right corner. You're done! If you would like to upload the picture in one or more of your networks, click the check mark near each network and it will direct you to safely put in your username and password of that social network, then you may upload!

TO SEE ALL YOUR UPLOADED PHOTOS, CLICK THE PAGE ICON ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN OF THE APP. You may view them in list form or grid form. You will see at the top of the screen the following details: the pictures you have, the amount of followers you have and how many people follow you.

NOW LETS EXPLORE INSTAGRAM! When you hit the home icon at the bottom of the screen, you can see all the photos uploaded by people you follow. Double tap the photos with your finger to "like" the photo. Click the speech bubble to leave a comment! The star icon, at the bottom of the screen, simply shows you popular photos across the world. The love speech bubble icon next to the camera icon shows you when your photos are liked, commented on and when people start to follow you. If your account is private, the follow requests will be located here as well.

IN ORDER TO ACCESS PRIVACY AND OTHER SETTINGS, CLICK ON THE PAGE ICON AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN AND IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER, CLICK THE ICON OF THE THREE STACKED SQUARES NEXT TO THE MAGNIFYING GLASS. There, you can find friends, see photos you've liked, edit profile information, change profile picture, and make your profile private by clicking "Photo Privacy"
